Tyler Texas Birth Photographer : The birth of baby C

I have known this totally cool mama since our husbands were in law school together.  We met one Sunday at church and then later that week as I sat with my first born on the balcony of my apartment,  I saw her walking her dog down the sidewalk.  Having only met her once I hesitated, unsure she would remember me, but I called out to her anyway.  She did remember me and a friendship sparked.

We began walking together, she walking her dog and I pushing my first kiddo in a stroller.  She was pregnant with her first child so we bonded over the newness of motherhood.   My husband graduated and we moved out here to East Texas.  When her husband graduated he took a job about 45 minutes from us.  We’ve kept in touch over the years, celebrating in each other’s joys, accomplishments, and everyday triumphs.

Since that first meeting she and her husband have welcomed two gorgeous children into their family.  I was thrilled to find out she was expecting a third and even more thrilled when I received a message from her asking if I would be interested in being there to document the birth.  I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

I had been wanting to jump into the world of birth photography but was a little unsure how to begin.  I would often see pregnant women out and about and think, “Maybe I should just give her a business card and ask if she’s interested in a birth photographer?”  In the end, I felt that was just a wee bit (or a lot bit) creepy mccreeperson.  So thank you, sweet friend, for keeping me from having to harass pregnant ladies in public.

The day finally came for the baby to arrive.  She kept in touch with me and told me when it was time to make my way.  I was so excited the whole 45 minute drive and hopeful that I wouldn’t miss anything.

When I arrived and walked into her hospital room, it was so peaceful.  She was there with her sweet husband and mother and the vibe was so relaxed that I immediately felt at ease.  I told her my goal was to just stay quiet and out of the way, but being that we are friends and hadn’t seen each other in a while, I found myself wanting to catch up.  I kept having to remind myself to be quiet.

The nurses came in to check her and it was time to start pushing.  I took my place at the side of her bed with her husband and her mother and got myself ready to document a miracle.  I am so happy and honored to share with you The Birth of Baby C.

The tenderness between these two through the whole process of bringing a life into the world was just so sweet to watch.  Her husband stayed quietly by her side stroking her hair and holding her hand.  His silent support spoke louder than any boisterous cheerleading could.  It was a beautiful thing to witness.
